Dear reader,
I first got to know London-based writer and dark skies storyteller Megan Eaves under the inky, star-studded night sky in Tanzania’s Ruaha National Park. Megan was one of my travel companions on a 2022 trip to Asilia Usangu Expedition Camp in an especially remote part of Tanzania’s Ruaha National Park, and one night, as the embers of our bonfire faded, she helped our small group interpret the view above us. That’s why I’m delighted she put together Afar’s new Hotels We Love list on the best hotels around the world for stargazing.
Writers Devorah Lev Tov and Kathryn Romeyn, whose young kids have turned them into family travel experts, are the curators behind our list of the 15 top family-friendly resorts in the U.S. (I was delighted to discover that my very own childhood home, the Plaza Hotel in New York, part of the Fairmont group, made the cut.) Devorah also considers family friendliness in her recent review of Susurros del Corazón, Auberge Resorts Collection, in Mexico.
Meanwhile in Canada, Afar cofounder and CEO Greg Sullivan recently returned from Fogo Island Inn in Newfoundland and offers his thoughts on why the property’s founder, Zita Cobb, continues to be such a visionary in hospitality
See you on the road,
Jennifer Flowers
